IBAN stands for International Bank Account Number. It is a unique number assigned to bank accounts in some countries that are part of the European Union (EU) and other countries that participate in the IBAN system. An IBAN number is used to identify a specific bank account in these countries and to facilitate international money transfers. The IBAN number consists of up to 34 alphanumeric characters and includes information about the country, bank, and individual account number. It is used in addition to the bank's routing number and account number.
